DBI

DIVERSION BASED IRRIGATION (DBI)

Promotion of Diversion based Irrigation is one of the ongoing projects of PRDA, since the 1st October 2010 through the nodal NGO, RNBA/RRC, Imphal, sponsored by JTT, Mumbai. Construction of check dam recharged large quantity of gravitational flow of water from streams which irrigated to the common cultivable areas of above 50 acres of land. During these first six months, two DBI User Group Committees of two Villages & two SHGs have been constituted unanimously with the initiative of PRDA so as to start their functions and activities smoothly.

Local Committees:-
Village Authority, youth Club and Women Society are the main committees of these villages and taking the main role of village development. So, two DBI user group committees consisting of executive members of the village level committees for each village was formed and all the grants for the construction of the dams were dispersed in cash on three installments for each Dam.


Achievement of DBI:

  • Two user groups of diversion dam committees were formed for two villages namely Gothol and G-Mongjang.

  • Two SHGs were also formed and all the members of the SHGs are getting benefit of irrigation to their kitchen garden and paddy field from the dams.
